The name is a claim, not a sanction. No rainbow jersey is awarded here. Gravel Worlds came out of the grassroots end of American gravel and still runs closer to that than to any governing body's calendar, and it has never pretended otherwise.

What it does have is 150 hard miles of Nebraska farm gravel in late August: heat, exposure, almost no shade.

The profile is what catches people. It rolls rather than climbs, so there is no long ascent to settle into and pace yourself on, just short rises arriving over and over for ten hours or more. Riders who treat the first 50 miles as the easy part usually pay for it after noon, when the sun is overhead and the gravel has gone loose.

Bring your own support. Resupply is planned around the towns on the route, not around a crew.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Is Gravel Worlds an official world championship?

No. The name is a claim, not a sanction. It grew out of the grassroots end of American gravel and still runs closer to that than to a governing body's calendar. No rainbow jersey is awarded here.

What is the terrain like?

Nebraska farm gravel, rolling rather than mountainous. That catches people out: there is no long climb to pace yourself on, just a constant drip of short rises over ten or more hours, in late-August heat with very little shade.

Is there support on course?

Self-sufficiency is expected. Plan resupply around the towns on the route rather than around a crew.
