Tough Mudder is an obstacle course event rather than a race, and that distinction is the point. There is mud, there are walls and there is water, and the format has always leaned on getting over obstacles as a group rather than posting a time. We rate it 2 out of 5 for difficulty, which is the honest number: the obstacles are the challenge, not the running.
Two practical notes. The events are sold as weekends, so the date shown here is the first day and there is usually a second day of waves. And Tough Mudder now sits under the same ownership as Spartan, which is why registration links point at spartan.com rather than a standalone site.
Terrain is trail and mixed ground, so expect uneven footing and shoes you are prepared to write off.

Nine weekends are on our calendar, all in the United States, from Atlanta on 25 April to Nashville on 17 October. Every one listed runs the Tough Mudder Classic distance.
