HYROX Rio de Janeiro 2026: the full race guide

A HYROX athlete celebrates in a floodlit arena with HYROX signage and a crowd

HYROX Rio de Janeiro takes place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026, and it is the second time the series has come to the city. Divisions race on set days, start times cannot be changed once you have entered, and you need ID at check-in. This guide covers the schedule by day, the venue, check-in, tickets and what the organiser says is included, so you can plan the weekend before you buy.

The race at a glance

HYROX is a fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations: you run 1 km, then do one station, and repeat that eight times. The organiser hosts each race indoors in large exhibition halls, so spectators can follow you from start to finish. The format is the same worldwide, which is why results feed global leaderboards and a World Championships at the end of each season.

The Rio event runs over two days at Riocentro in Barra Olímpica. The organiser describes it as a test of strength, endurance and community that suits both experienced HYROX athletes chasing a new record and first-timers.

The eight stations, in order

Each 1 km run is followed by one station. The organiser lists them in this order. It advises trying the sled push at least once before race day and wearing grippy shoes.

Who can enter, and in which division

The organiser’s Brazil FAQ says you should have fitness experience or take part in regular physical activity, and that you must be 16 or older. The divisions are Open, Pro, Doubles, Doubles Pro, Relay and Adaptive. Open is the standard race. Pro uses the same format with heavier weights. In Doubles you run together and split the stations with a partner. A relay team has four people, each doing two 1 km runs and two stations. The Adaptive division is for athletes with disabilities, and the organiser asks you to email the local customer service team about it.

Age groups start at 16 to 24, then run in five-year bands from 25 to 29 up to 85 to 89. The organiser notes that the bands from 60 upwards do not exist in the Pro divisions. The Rio schedule below lists the divisions that race on each day.

Schedule by day

The organiser marks this timetable as provisional and subject to change. About three days before the event, each athlete’s own start time is linked on the event page, and the organiser states that start time changes are not permitted.

Race week checklist

Using only what the organiser states, this is the order of things. First, about three days before the event, find your individual start time on the event page and plan around it. Second, watch the technical briefing the organiser links on the event page. Third, bring ID to check in, because checking in on behalf of someone else is not allowed. Fourth, check in on the day you compete: during race weekend you cannot check in on another day. Fifth, plan your arrival around on-site registration, which opens 90 minutes before the first start wave of your division.

The early athlete registration date, times and location are still marked as to be announced, and so are the laps to run. The relay briefing is at 18:20 at the Relay Transition Zone.

The venue

The event location is Riocentro, Av. Salvador Allende, 6555, Barra Olímpica, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 22783-127. The organiser’s page does not publish transport or parking advice, so check the organiser’s event information before you travel.

For spectators

The organiser sells spectator tickets, with add-ons, on its ticket platform. If you want to enter the hall before your own check-in window, the organiser says to go through the Spectators Desk and show your ticket and ID.

Tickets

The organiser sells athlete tickets and spectator tickets through its event page and ticket platform. We do not list prices: the ticket platform loads its prices with a script, so we could not read them and will not guess. Check the organiser’s ticket page for the current price in reais.

What is included in your race package

According to the organiser, athletes receive the finisher patch, a result time posted on the leaderboard, an individual finisher time with split timings for each workout, and an age group award ceremony in each division. Aid stations run before, during and after the event, and professional photos can be bought. Athletes also get a view of the racing from the Thunderdome and access to an entertainment zone run with the organiser’s partners. Qualification slots for the World Championships are offered for certain age groups.
