WVV Marathon Würzburg 2027: the full race guide

The race at a glance
The WVV Marathon Würzburg is the city's main running weekend, and 2027 is the 25th edition. The marathon is on Sunday 23 May 2027, with children's and youth races the day before, on Saturday 22 May.
The organiser describes the marathon as two laps through the city centre, past Würzburg's best-known sights and often directly along the Main river. Its own description of the marathon and half marathon is flat, fast and officially measured. The programme also includes a half marathon, a marathon relay, a 10 km fun run, a Rosinenbrötchenlauf, children's and youth races and the Würzburger Gedächtnislauf.
The course
The organiser publishes no elevation figures, so we describe the course only as it does: flat, measured, two rounds of the city centre. The kids' races run through the Ringpark.
Start times on Sunday: 9:00 for the 10 km, and for the marathon and half marathon 9:10 for block A, 9:15 for block B, 9:20 for block C and 9:25 for block D. The overall cut-off is 15:00, and the marathon page states a maximum running time of 5:30 hours.
Getting there, bibs and entry
Bib pickup and the expo are at the Congress Centrum Würzburg, Pleichertorstraße 5. They are open on Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00, with a pasta party from 13:00 to 19:00, and on Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30.
The organiser recommends public transport. Your start number works as a round-trip combination ticket across the whole NVM network from six hours before the race until six hours after. On Saturday trams 2 and 4 serve the venue, and on Sunday the venue is a ten-minute walk from the main station. If you drive, the organiser gives the route as the A3 to the Heidingsfeld exit and then signs to the CCW, and lists nine car parks.
Online registration for 2027 is open. In marathon week, late online registration costs €89. The organiser's logistics page still links to 2026 results, so confirm the start location on the registration page before race week.
