IRONMAN Wales

· Pembrokeshire, United KingdomCompleted

IRONMAN Wales starts from North Beach in Tenby on 13 September 2026: 3.8 km in the Irish Sea, 180 km through Pembrokeshire, and a 42.2 km run on the streets of the town.

Take the swim seriously. It is a beach start in tidal open sea, and in mid-September the water is cold enough that cold-water practice is not optional. The exit puts you up a flight of steps and along a stretch of tarmac before you reach transition.

The bike is not the gentle coastal ride the setting suggests. Pembrokeshire is a sequence of short, steep climbs out of every valley, and the elevation accumulates without ever giving you a long ascent to settle into.

The run is the compensation. Four laps through Tenby with crowds packed into narrow streets is the reason people come back, and it includes the climb back up St John's Hill four times over.
